The Comanche School Board invites rural trustees to a community meeting October 10 at the high school lunch room. Topics include a new building program to relieve crowding, replacing a failing elementary building, financing plans, potential consolidation, and transportation costs for contract schools. The district currently enrolls 1,080 students with 36 teachers, 708 in Comanche and 352 from surrounding districts.

Mrs. Reta Mae Wallace, daughter of Mr and Mrs R H Davenport of Comanche, died Saturday night at her Brunswick Maine home. Her body is due to arrive here Friday for burial. Mr and Mrs Lanties Hope spent the weekend in Lubbock with his parents.

Mr and Mrs J B Lowry sold their East Central Avenue home in Comanche to Mr and Mrs Bill Mewborn and plan to move to DeWitt County. Mr Lowry will run a country store 14 miles from Yorktown and serve as postmaster at his new home. He has bakery roots and both attend the local Methodist Church. The move is expected in about a month.

Funeral Rites Held Here For Pfc. Guy O Page
Funeral services for Pfc. Guy O Page 39 were held at the First Baptist Church in Comanche with Rev. John G Cambrides presiding. The body, the first Comanche County veteran returned from overseas, was escorted by Cpl. Spott from Port of debarkation in New York and laid to rest under American Legion auspices. Page served three years overseas in General Patton's Third Army and died from injuries from a truck accident in Belgium on August 30.
