Terry and Os sold their venture to a new firm under Joe Nelson, forming Side Cafe known as Shorty Vine cafe on East Square. Completion nears for a 5e square site with plans for late hours and regular updates. Reg card lists Clemons Ford- T Arthur Sinclair company and weekly football tickets.

Ernest Tupin, Comanche watch repairman, received the Governor's Award for Handicapped Person of the Year at the Driskill Hotel in Austin. He is a triple amputee who learned watch repair after losing his right arm. He built a home business, trained 66 others in repair work, and helped place 25 handicapped individuals in self supporting jobs. His daughter Mary Ann appeared with him and was later featured on WBAP and named Texas Queen for the observance week.
Sam Rayhorn of Bonham, member of the House of Representatives, will address Central Texas citizens Monday night at 8 in Brownwood in support of Gov Adlai Stevenson and Senator John Sparkman. The Howard Payne College Band performs 7 15 to 8 preceding the meeting near the Brown County Courthouse south side.
Henry Elms, 85, a retired general store merchant and cafe operator, died at his Gustine home on Sunday. Funeral services were held Monday at the Church of Christ in Gustine with Rev. S. J. Isham and Bob Key officiating. interment followed in Union Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters and two sons, Edwin Elms of Cisco and Roy Elms of Gustine.
The Sun Drive In at Comanche will feature The Greatest Show on Earth, a Technicolor DeMille epic. Manager Harold Flemins announces a road show with admission at 1 for adults and 25 cents for children. Showtimes begin 7:30 and 10:30 nightly through next Monday.
Orval Filbeck an associate professor of education at Abilene Christian College and gospel preacher for seventeen years will teach and preach each Sunday at the Sidney Church of Christ through the school year ending next June. Bible study for all ages starts at 10:00 a.m. with preaching and the Lord’s Supper from 11:00 to 12:00. Young Peoples class at 6:45 p.m. and regular evening service at 7:30. Ladies Bible Class meets Wednesdays at 2:30. All invited.
Funeral rites for Mrs J A Rock 83 were held Friday at Comanche Funeral Home. She died September 24 after a yearlong illness. Interment was Oakwood Cemetery. Survivors include daughter Dess Callaway, brother B W Winslett, and several nieces and nephews. Out of town attendees listed from Corsicana Fort Worth Hamlin Terrell and more.
The Comanche Indians, undefeated in three starts this season, travel to face Lake View Chiessa in District 9-AA on Friday October 3 with an 8 pm kickoff. Probable starters include Tharp and Leddy at ends and Bumpas at center, with Hicks and Goforth leading the offense for Comanche.
Coach Herman Moore's B team defeated Cisco B 18 to 6 in a well played 10-AA game. Key plays came from Don Cunningham and Cecil Brownlee with a TD combo, Brownlee added a 50 yard score, and Cal Cox, Billy Jack Carter, James Lester anchored the line in a 4th quarter drive for the Indians. The squad heads to Stephenville next Monday October 6 to face the Yellow Jackets B team.
Dr O J Chastain comptroller and field representative of Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton will preach at both the morning and evening services at the First Baptist Church Comanche Sunday October 5.
Closing out the rummage sale at the Episcopal Parish House with half price on all items Saturday morning only. Proceeds benefit parish programs.

E. L. Terry and O. K. Wren former Comanche restaurateurs have purchased Rippe tees Cafe from O. K. and Gayle Rippetee and will run it as South Side Cafe with Wren as manager. They plan to move back to Comanche soon and open daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. including Sundays. E. Rippetoe will work for Fort Worth firm Scott Palmer Gregory on road and sewer bids while remaining based in Comanche. Gayle Rippetoe remains a city route carrier clerk.
Mrs Beatrice Sanders 72 of 603 N Pearl died Saturday September 27 after a two week illness. Funeral Monday at Comanche Funeral Home with Rev W S Clarke assisted by Rev C H Horton and Rev R M Burton. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Born January 10 1880 in Comanche County she was daughter of James Pickett Green and Winnie Henson Green. She married Charles Sanders in 1905. he died August 28 1941. Survived by two sisters Nannie Green Goldthwaite and Will Rush Gustine and brother W R Green Mullin plus many relatives.
The Episcopal Church ladies will resume a rummage sale Saturday morning at the Parish House. All goods will be sold at half price.
Reverend Father J. J. McCausland of the Sethy Ts order will lead a preaching mission in Comanche from October 19 to 25 with daily Holy Communion at eight o'clock each evening. The event is part of the Dallas diocese centennial celebration featuring prominent preachers across Dallas and Fort Worth. The monk has long served at Bracebridge Ontario and will speak on spiritual aid for the community.
