Oak Lawn Funeral Home Open House Planned Weekend

Plans are set for the opening of the Oak Lawn Funeral Home near the Comanche Fort Worth highway. The modern 4600 square foot facility cost about 75000 dollars and includes a 200 seat chapel with oak pews and organ. Maurice L. Gaither and Harry Cloud own the firm, which will provide ambulance service and housing for the owners. Open house is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings, November 30 and December 1.

Death Claims Mrs R Harris in Sidney Home

Elizabeth C. Harris 84 of Sidney died at her home Monday on her birthday. Funeral held at Sidney Baptist Church with Rev. Isham officiating. Burial in Pendergrass Cemetery. Car and freight train collide at S Austin crossing

Mrs H Lester and two children along with Mrs Mathews and two children escaped injury when her 1952 Mercury collided with an oncoming Santa Fe freight train at the S Austin Street crossing. She said a train was stopped to her left and she began to cross as another train from the west struck. The car was badly damaged.

Farmers Vote On Cotton Marketing Quotas December 10

Comanche County farmers will vote December 10 on cotton marketing quotas as acreage allotments for 1958 are set. William F. Bryant, county ASC chairman, says mail notices will inform each eligible farm. Old cotton farms get 1955 56 or 57 planting history used to determine 1958 allotment with a minimum of four acres. new farms receive a small reserve and applications are due February 21, 1958.

Lightfoot Suffered Heart Attack. Comanche Cats Set to Play

Mrs. E J Lightfoot, a popular Comanche High English and Spanish teacher, suffered a heart attack at home last Friday and was hospitalized in Brownwood with recovery expected after Christmas. Comanche cagers host Rising Star Wildcats Tuesday. CHS Maidens meet Rising Star girls at 7 p.m. with prior results: boys won last week, girls lost.

Second Goodwill Day Of 38 Season Next Wednesday

Comanche gears up for the second of four Goodwill Day events on December 4 hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and merchants. Oswell Brightman will MC, with directors Bill Wilkerson and John M. Hathcock as committee members. The first event drew a large crowd with a band concert and a $150 cash prize drawing.
