Old Santa in Comanche Christmas Parade

Old Santa to lead a parade Friday December 12 at 4 00 p m in Comanche with a parade unit and float. Melba a gnome rides the float along with Santa as he brings eight big floats and ten Shetland ponies. The procession starts on time to visit many stops before Christmas.

A radiogram from Santa Claus confirms a 3:00 p.m. parade on Friday December 12 in Comanche with 50 big units and a pageant. Nine herald girls spell Merry Christmas and 25 gift characters join floats and scenes including Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe, Night Before Christmas, and Jingle Bells Band. The Donovan Fireworks and Decoration Company directs the event for the Chamber of Commerce all to boost Christmas shopping in town.

Sect Wins Suit Against Four West Texas Cities

United States District Judge James C. Wilson enjoined Fort Worth area towns from hindering Jehovah's Witnesses distributing literature. Cities Komanche Coleman Dublin and Ranger were named in the suit as having pressed peddling charges under municipal ordinances. The ruling held the ordinances were unlawfully applied to the plaintiffs and an appeal decision is pending after a conference. Mr and Mrs R R Evans of Wichita Falls were visitors in the Evans home last week.

Stevenson Dedicates Comanche County Courthouse Ceremony

Governor Coke Stevenson dedicates the new Comanche County courthouse built with bond funds and a WPA grant. The ceremony draws 3500 attendees with remarks praising civic cooperation and freedom. Over 9 Million Pounds Peanuts Marketed in Comanche

Dr. F. Denny reports more than nine million pounds of peanuts weighed in Comanche this fall with 90 to 95 percent sold. The 1941 crop is expected near 10 million pounds. High prices reached $1.34 for top grade peanuts, while Number 1 peanuts sold for $1.32 through the Southwest Peanut Growers Association. Oil stock peanuts brought $82 per ton amid a good overall crop despite rain.

Turkey raisers in Comanche market turkeys for Thanksgiving

Farmers Produce and Cheese Plant paid about 50 000 dollars to Comanche turkey raisers after selling turkeys destined for the Thanksgiving market. The firm shipped sixteen car loads averaging 20 000 pounds each with prices around 16 to 18 cents per pound. George C. McKinzie notes high turkey quality and estimates about sixty percent of the local crop sold for Thanksgiving. The Christmas market opens in Comanche in a few days.
