Brooks Accepts Post With Spacecraft Center in Houston

Felton Don Brooks, electrical engineer, will move to Houston November 15 to join NASA Manned Spacecraft Center after leaving the General Services Administration Electrical Design Branch in Dallas. A CHS graduate, he earned an electrical engineering degree from the University of Houston. He is the son of Mr and Mrs D R Brooks of Comanche and is married to Vera Mae Howell Proctor. They have three children Lori Lisa and Mark Stacy.

Thanksgiving Services Set at First Baptist Church

A special Thanksgiving Service will be held Wednesday evening November 25 at 7:30 at the First Baptist Church. Rev. James McCall of First Presbyterian Church will deliver the message. Comanche pastors join in a combined service with a church choir directed by Paul Goodwin, and a Thanksgiving offering for the Comanche United Fund will be taken.

Indians Host Cisco In Homecoming Football Game

The Comanche Indians host Cisco Lobos at Indian Memorial Stadium in the season finale with a 7:30 kickoff and homecoming ceremonies starting about 7:10. Comanche County 4 H members and adult leaders were honored November 7 at the annual Achievement Program in the District Courtroom. About 180 people attended as officials awarded 101 4 H pins and various project honors for beef, dairy, foods, clothing, forestry and more.

Indian Band Members Win District Honors in Eastland

Twenty-two Comanche Indian Band students placed in the West Central Texas Air District Band in Eastland on November 7 as part of a 300-student field from 28 schools. First Band honors went to Jane Caraway and four others. Second Band include Richard Frazier Gail Gleaton Autie Merreltyorralte and Travis Phifer with several top placements and a final evening concert ending with Cathy Fanning's piccolo solo in Stars and Stripes Forever.

Eloise Parker announces 1964 Census of Agriculture plans in Comanche County. The program runs in three stages beginning with enumerator recruitment, then mail questionnaires to rural box holders, followed by on-site visits starting November 23. Classroom Teachers Honor Superintendent S. H. Fletcher

Comanche educators paid tribute to S. H. Fletcher superintendent during American Education Week. Mrs Edna McPherson announced the honor in the Junior High Library with tributes from teachers and community figures including Miss Lee MacGrothlin and KCOM radio staff. Fletcher received a framed certificate and gave a moving acceptance speech.
