Armistice Day Closures Noted in Comanche

All business houses in Comanche will close Monday in observance of Armistice Day. Schools will be dismissed and the three Comanche guns will not operate that day. Armistice Day falls on Sunday November 11.

District Court to reconvene on Tuesday November 13

The district court, delayed two weeks to accommodate jurors busy with crops, will reconvene Tuesday November 13 per District Clerk Henry Gore. Comanche county backed Hoover for president with 1 517 votes to Smith 1 283 while Hoover carried 19 boxes and Smith 12. Amendments mostly failed with Confederate pension proposal passing at 980 to 773. Moody led Republicans with 2 379 to Holmes 317. Nationwide, Hoover led 444 to 87 in electoral votes, sweeping Texas and several southern states.

Irby Named Resident Engineer for Comanche County

J G Irby and wife recently of Gonzales have located in Comanche where he succeeds O M Simpson as resident engineer for the State Highway Department. He will work on plans for Highway No 10 through the county. Irby was county engineer of Gonzales for six years.
