Handicapped School At Comanche Gains New Role
Ernest Tupin of Comanche runs Texas sole officially recognized school for physically handicapped apprentices in watch repair and precision instrument maintenance. The State Education Vocational Rehabilitation Division now requires expansion to train more students to fill jobs on battlefronts. He trained his left hand to replace his amputated right arm and started teaching after losing both legs.

Tragic Wreck Near De Leon Claims Kemp and Gibbs Lives
Billie Kemp twenty of Comanche and Bennie Gibbs thirty five of Haskell were killed Friday night when their bobtail truck collided with a six wheel tractor trailer loaded with sheep north west of De Leon on the German highway. Gibbs died instantly while Billie Kemp died later in German Hospital from internal injuries. Gordon Cowhand of Granbury was seriously injured and Mal Kemp sustained arm injuries and bruises. The Bowen truck driver A T Bowen of De Leon was uninjured. Two cows died in the crash which also involved moving Kemp furniture and four cows from Haskell to Comanche. Funeral services for Billie Kemp were held at the First Methodist Church of Comanche with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Sheriff Wid Spivey investigated the wreck.

A cattle lice and grub demonstration was held Tuesday at 2 00 P M at the T J Williams ranch attended by cattlemen. A L Smith Dr Johnson and R R Lancaster from the A and M College Extension Service assisted. Demonstrations covered dusting spraying washing with Rotenone and Sulphur. Owners with dipping vats could dip and rid cattle at the same time. Smaller stockmen could dust wash or spray. Untreated cattle lose feed and fatten slower. Mr Smith noted grubby calves lose one to two cents per pound at sale, urging control to improve market quality for Uncle Sam and profits.
