Pay As Explained by County AAA Committee

Information from the County AAA Office outlines receipts and payments for producers selling butter to consumers and local stores. October payments come in early November, with November and December payments in early January. Small producers with October payments under one dollar may apply in January for the Oct–Dec period if total becomes at least one dollar. Legion To Meet Here: Claims To Be Discussed

J. B. Albcorn Comanche County service officer returns from Austin school and will address American Legion Post at 8 30 p m next Wednesday in the Comanche County Court Room. Funeral Rites Held Here For Mrs Rebecca Old

Funeral services for Mrs. Callaway Old wife of Ensign Lavie Old formerly of Brownwood were held at Oakwood Cemetery in Brownwood after services at Central Christian Church Co manche and Central Methodist Church Brownwood The Brownwood native born July 30 1915 attended Brownwood High School and the University of Texas as a Zeta Tau Alpha member she was daughter of Mr and Mrs Gib Callaway both local educators and lawyers The family obituary notes she died in a Dallas hospital after returning from Florida leaving a husband stationed at St Florida and a sister Mrs Bid Florida among others

4H Club Boys Aid Grub Control Demonstrations

Comanche County 4 H Club boys will train demonstration teams under the County Agent and A M College Extension Service to show farmers and ranchers how to conduct grubs control. The program aims to reduce losses from heel fly grub damage, which costs Texas farmers millions annually and devalues hides and meat.

Fifty-Six School Buses Inspected And Approved Here

All school buses of Comanche County were inspected in the third annual county inspection. Patrolman Glenn Williamson of Meridian conducted the checks and reported the buses were in good condition and compliant with safety standards.

Cox Replaces Culwell on TCU Football Squad

Cecil Jack Cox a light halfback, 135 pounds, was placed into the TCU squad replacing Don Culwell who was transferred. Cox is noted for his potential to contribute more on the field than off it, despite his small size as the program adds three pounds in the exchange.

Need Is Urgent For More Surgical Dressing Workers

More workers are urgently needed at the Red Cross Surgical Dressing Center here. Mrs. A. P. Cox, chairman, says these bandages are very important to the war effort and needed on all fronts. The Comanche center operates afternoons and Tuesday and Thursday evenings, on the third floor of the Comanche County Courthouse.

Car thefts in multiple towns linked by police

Comanche reports a 1937 Ford Tudor stolen Sunday night from in front of Jimmie Tucker’s home and found abandoned in Brownwood Monday night. A 1935 Plymouth Sedan belonging to Jessie James Jr. was stolen in Dublin Sunday night and found in Brownwood Monday morning. Brownwood police say a third car stolen Sunday night was recovered in Dublin, and investigators believe the three thefts are the work of the same person or group.

Phillips Seriously Ill in Hospital

Hubert Phillips a popular cafe operator is seriously ill in a Fort Worth hospital. He was taken to a German hospital early this week and physicians advised an operation in Fort Worth. Mr Phillips has been in ill health for about three months.
