Election Saturday shapes Comanche County judge vote

Voters will select a County Judge for four years and Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 on Saturday. Candidates are Albert Brannan and Johnny Livingston for Judge, Ottis Fields and T. N. Walker for Justice of the Peace. Polls run 8:00 am to 7:00 pm with nine boxes including CHS gym and VFW venues. about 60 absentee ballots counted so far.

Rev Kenneth Vaughan Named New Pastor at First Baptist

Rev. Kenneth Vaughan age 41 is appointed pastor of First Baptist Church in Comanche coming from Eldorado where he led the church since January 1962. He and wife Virginia with three children plan to arrive June 10 to 15 and he will preach his first sermon June 16. Vaughan has twenty years of pastoral service with a record of success in each community served.

Housing Finance Institute in Comanche County

Comanche County hosts a Housing Finance Institute on Thursday May 30 at 7 30 p m in the County Courtroom. The event targets young couples seeking home purchases or remodeling and features speakers Bennie Davis Farmers Home Administration Tommy Head Federal Land Bank and Kenneth Hagood Comanche National Bank detailing loan procedures and options. Jaycee Carnival Opens May 30 With Rides and Booths

Harvey Kaase, chairman, invites the public to the Jaycee Carnival in the Square from Thursday May 30 through Saturday. Jaycees will run booths from Bingo to the Dunking Stool, while Alexander Amusements Company provides rides for adults and children.

Story telling Classes At Comanche Public Library

Comanche Public Library offers free story telling classes sponsored by the Comanche Home Economics Class. Enrollment is by call to 356 2850 and sessions run Fridays starting May 31 for four weeks with two time blocks for ages 4 5 and 6 7.

Rev Turner Returns to Methodist Churches in Texas

Rev Frank L. Turner Jr will return to the Comanche and Gustine United Methodist Churches amid announced appointments by Bishop W McFerrin Stowe of the Fort Worth Dallas area. Turner arrived at Comanche First United in October 1970 and the changes take effect after the Central Texas Conference meeting in Waco.

The Comanche County Fair at the Livestock-Association Center runs August 15 to 17. Homemaking invites entries in foods clothing and crafts with three prize levels across five age groups. Any craft item completed in the last year qualifies. food items are limited to canning or pickling.

Parker George Elected to Texas Pork Producers Board

Parker RK George of Brownwood was elected director representing District eight including Brown Comanche Mills and seven other central Texas counties. The referendum for a check off program passed by large margin and swearing in will be held in Lubbock on May 30.
