Washington May 26 The new immigration law signed today preserves the basic framework of the 1921 act, shifts the quota base from 1910 to the census year 1920, reduces the overall percentage from 5 to 2, designates country quotas by certificates not persons, provides preliminary examinations, exempts wives and children under 18 and students over 55 of American citizens, and places the burden of proof on the alien.

Post commander Robert Riley says ex-soldiers should join the Legion as it will handle bonus applications, with about three months needed to settle each claim and a deadline of January 1, 1925 to file. The Rector Cunningham post in Cothuchele has dwindled to twenty two members who meet the second Tuesday monthly at the Colonial Hotel. the post also runs Decoration Day and the Fourth of July events.

W T Cox and Fred Spratt of Dublin spudded in for their deep test on the Martin tract three and a half miles from Proctor between Proctor and Gustine at 11 o clock Saturday morning. De Leon residents seek dissolution of auto tax injunction
Citizens from De Leon appeared before the Comanche county court in session as a county board of equalization to urge ending the injunction holding auto taxes by the local tax collector. Tornado Toll Rises Across Mississippi Alabama and Louisiana
APattern of deadly storms swept Mississippi Alabama and Louisiana last night and today killing thirty five and injuring over seventy. In Mississippi seventeen were dead and fifty injured with Collins and Vicksburg hit hard.
