Executive committee directs funds to hire a paid secretary and maintain an office in Comanche. A long list of donors supports the drive led by A. S. Harris, named as the best qualified candidate for the post.
Geo. Montgomery states he has disposed of his interest in the G. and M. Garage to Gage, Howard, Holdem, and Owen and will no longer be connected with the firm. He will continue to handle the Buick agency and keep some cars on display at their place.
Comanche businessmen met with John F. Lehane of the Cotton Belt in J. R. Eanes & Co office to seek extension of motor service to Comanche. Lehane agreed to take up the extension and expressed goodwill toward Comanche.
W. W. Kilpatrick & Son advertise new binder canvas and repair services for old canvases, inviting customers to have their equipment refreshed by experienced craftsmen.
The Comanche High School Alumni Association plans its annual banquet Friday night May 26 with former graduates traveling from across the region for a lively program and meals. A letter from Will Carpenter asks for two banquet tickets and hints at hosting out of town guests during the visit.
The Comanche Schools announce closing events from May 19 to May 23 led by R F Holloway. Primary and Grammar School entertainment Friday evening, commencement sermon Sunday morning, senior play Monday evening, and graduating exercises Tuesday evening.
The Hasse depot was burglarized Saturday night for the third or fourth time. Only blank tickets remained secure as agent Craddock had taken the cash home. No arrest yet. a suspected hobo was seen near the depot and may have boarded a train. Sheriff Cunningham investigated early Sunday morning but could not trace the intruder.
Last Saturday night Miss Myr tle Paine entertained friends with Progressive Forty-two. Attendees included Misses Clara Rhea Bess Hoff Gertie and Venner Hooker and Messrs Garrett Hamilton Marshall Binyon Collins Carpenter and Queen. Refreshments of sherbet were served. fortunes telling proved popular and entertaining.
Last Friday afternoon the high school teachers served a six o clock dinner to the trustees and their wives. Domestic science students under Miss Clara Rhea organized the serving and preparation. The course dinner was served attractively and Miss Rhea proved herself a charming hostess and capable entertainer.
Vas Preston announces a complete overhaul of his eatery near the square’s northwest corner. He has installed tables and invites families to dine, noting fish served every Friday and Saturday.

Judge Oxford of Stephenville resigned last week from the District Court post in his district. He plans to enter the coal business.
The Indian Creek singing school conducted over ten days by Owen Wetzel closed Tuesday night with a fine program. Duets solos quartets and class songs delighted a large appreciative audience. The class demonstrated thorough training and Wetzel proved an excellent teacher. Another shipment of white hats arrived this week from Higginbotham's.
This week closes the regular school session. Friday night features a Grammar and Ward schools program with diplomas. Sunday’s Baccalaureate sermon by Rev White at 11 a m in the High School auditorium. Monday night the High School Play A Trial of Hearts. Tuesday diplomas awarded at the address by Dr Gray of Brownwood. Thirty two graduates—12 boys and 20 girls. Admission 10 and 15 cents Friday night. 25 35 and 50 cents for Monday night play. Graduation exercises Tuesday night free.
The Coman High School senior class presents its annual play Monday night May 22 in the school auditorium. A large cast trained by Mrs. R W Scurry will perform with musical numbers and bright specialties between acts. Tickets sell at 25 35 and 50 cents through Paris Smith's.
A benefit event for the Boll Weevil League is set for Friday at the Majestic theater with an afternoon and evening program. An A.M. Fox feature will be shown and organizers expect to raise a good sum for the league.
The Comanche County Medical Association will meet in DeLeon on June 8 with an interesting program. Practically all county physicians are expected to attend.
Three binders offered at close prices. Two Deering binders and one McCormick binder are in good condition and have seen little use. Seller promises ample time for inspection and purchase.
Until stock runs out, 24 inch by 20 rod rolls of galvanized hog fence are offered at 5.50 dollars. Full time service available if desired at Higginbotham's.
Boosters from Waco arrived by Cotton Belt train at 5 15 PM. Comanche business leaders greeted them on the square and courthouse lawn where Methodist ladies served a fine supper. Mayors and judges welcomed guests with talks highlighting Comanche's diversification.
A luncheon at the Reese home announced the upcoming marriage of Inez Reese to Garrett E Palmer. Sixteen guests attended a four course meal with sweet pea decor and place cards bearing the couple’s names and date.
Thursday the G M Garage changed hands with George Montgomery retiring. Chas Howard C C Holden and I E Owen enter the business. Holden and Owens lead the mechanical dept, Gage and Howard run the accessory dept.
