The Federal Government through the Civilian Conservation Corps offers opportunities for unemployed young men ages 17 to 23 with character to receive job training in conservation related war type work. They will receive full maintenance and 30 dollars monthly. families needing income get 15 dollars allotment and 7 dollars monthly deposit. Applicants from families not needing support may deposit 22 dollars monthly and be held until discharge or departure. Spending money of 8 dollars is kept in either case. Camp life mixes work and leisure with education and practical instruction and offers leadership advancement with potential pay increases to 36 or 45 dollars per month.

12000 Soldiers to Camp Near Comanche and Sipe Springs
United States Army authorities lease 500 acres of Ligon Ranch three miles from Comanche on the Sidney road for 12000 soldiers from Camp Bowie to encamp for two weeks at a date between May 28 and June 15. A second camp is planned near Sipe Springs. If May arrivals occur, the two week encampment would cover the June 1 pay day when $360,000 in cash is distributed to soldiers.
