Comanche Committee Thanks Citizens for Parade Success

John D. Waring reports the Comanche parade fundraiser and band program for the West Texas Chamber of Commerce at Brownwood succeeded. The committee raised funds for a queen parade float and decorations, sharing profits with the band and praising town cooperation and parade turnout.

Comanche Band Earns Second in State Contest

Word reached the press at 10 p m Thursday that the Comanche American Legion Band won second place in the two year band contest at the Western Interstate Conference convention with San Antonio taking first among ten bands competing in this class.

A Sunday night service at the Baptist tabernacle celebrated Union Services in Comanche. De G. E. B. Henderlite welcomed as new Presbyterian pastor. Dr. C. Klingman bid farewell as he departs for Graham. County Attorney Ghent Sanderford paid tribute, and J. D. Waring delivered the farewell.

Comanche County Fair elects officers for 1024 at county courthouse

Officers for the Comanche County Fair for 1024 were elected at a meeting at the courthouse last Saturday afternoon. J. Poriers was named president with P. A. Perrit as first vice president and J. Doss Miller Jr as second vice president. J. A. Barton was secretary. The group discussed creating a permanent executive committee and emphasized the fair as an educational institution aiding county development. County Agent J. F. Burton and George Goosby spoke on livestock and exhibits, noting community support for a county fair and entertainment planned for attendees.

Comanche Man Chosen Director of West Texas Chamber

John D. Wearing of Comanche was elected as a director of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce for the upcoming year at Brownwood. Nominations came from the floor, Col Walsh of San Angelo was elected president, and R Q Lee of Cisco urged unanimous approval.

Legion Decoration Day Plans Announced

American Legion Decoration Day committee outlined the morning program for Friday May 0. Local businesses will close for two hours during the ceremonies. The Legion band will perform at 2:30 pm on the court house lawn, then a parade to the cemetery begins with a program including invocation, Sleep Soldier Sleep, address, star spangled banner, firing squad, taps, and graveside decorations. Committees and flower volunteers seek involvement.

Barry of Anson elected Comanche High principal

W G Barry of Anson was chosen principal of Comanche High School at a regular school board meeting. He holds an A B degree from Baylor University and comes highly recommended. Thelma Coleman was elected to the grammar school post, and Helen Armstrong was re-elected as shorthand and typewriting teacher.

Clever Senior Play Promises Noted Entertainment in Comanche

The senior play When the Clock Strikes Twelve debuts in Comanche high school auditorium on Monday May 19 at 7 30 pm. Admission is 50 cents with tickets on sale at Paris Sith's. The production features Elizabeth Stonehe and Virginia Welldanger as leads with a large cast including Theodore Stone Mrs Chutiuing and Rex Raymond among others. Senior Class Day at Comanche High School Delights Town

The class of 1924 presented an inventive class day program praised for clever staging. Carter Wilson donated a rug for the stage and Miss Minnie Cunningham and Miss Rowena Hunter contributed musical and spoken pieces. A mock trial on disloyalty and a machine that reverses time provided comic sentiment as seniors sang and the girls wore rainbow colors.

Veterans Meeting Called for Comanche County Old Camp
