Comanche Ward School Class Remembers a 1932 Start

In 1932 about 50 pupils began at Comanche Ward School with twelve remaining together after eleven years. The piece catalogs early grades, teachers, pranks, and later high school and college outcomes, noting declamation, track, tennis, and football honors and the 71 graduates ready for high school.

Golden Wedding Anniversary of John and Amanda McDonald

John McDonald and Amanda McDonald celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary in Gustine. Married April 26 1893 the couple moved from Logan County Arkansas and Clark County Mississippi to California earlier in life. Their daughters Bessie and Mrs Jones hosted a lunch with relatives Don Williams Bob Allien Mat Hicks and Tom Couch and Peggy Ann Jones is their grandchild.

Cemetery Work at Baggett May 8

There will be a cemetery working Saturday May 8 at Siloam Cemetery. Mrs H E Hillhouse urges everyone to help and to elect a new committee. Pvt Olan T Langley stationed at Camp Denson Ark has returned to camp after visiting his parents and relatives.

Mother's Day sermon and baccalaureate address

Central Christian pastor C. C. Klingman notes Sunday's services with a Mother's Day sermon titled The Ideal Woman and a Sunday night baccalaureate sermon The Price of Freedom to be delivered in the High School auditorium.

Sweetwater Church Announces Revival Schedule

The Sweetwater church lists Sunday School at 11 a.m. each Sunday and preaching at 8 30 p m on Saturdays and 12 p m Sundays. Revival starts Friday evening July 16 led by Pastor Rev Otis Cahill with prayers for many souls to be saved.

Hasse Stitch and Chatter Club Quilts for Mrs Blake and Mrs Elliott

The Hasse Stitch and Chatter Club met at the church on April 28 to sew a quilt for Mrs. Blake and on May 5 to quilt for Mrs. Russell Elliott. Members also observed cup towel day and brought cup towels. Reporter notes all are welcome at the church.

Knox City Visits Highlight Local Socials

Mr and Mrs Hubert Atterbury appeared in Knox City for a recent visit. Mrs Mamie Franklin returned to Lefors after spending Easter at Comanche and Gustine. Mr and Mrs Frank Luker and their three children of Eastland visited J H Lloyd and Charlie Yarbrough on Sunday.

Mr and Mrs Terrell Pitts and children visited J H Dawkins and family on Sunday. SS Pvt Olen Kelly of Camp Meek spent the weekend here with his wife.
