J A Barton County Agent reports Comanche County farmers will obtain about 173 828 dollars in federal aid this year covering wheat cotton peanuts corn hogs with last year totaling 264 305 dollars across cotton cattle sheep goats and wheat. Across three years payments reach 638 133 dollars plus an estimated 25 000 for higher cotton prices, while Texas farmers total 88 million and U S farmers 630 million. The program is credited with rising prices for staples and reducing tax delinquencies from 65 percent in 1932.

After three peanut theft indictments by the Grand Jury on Friday additional arrests followed on Saturday in Smith County. Frank Shoemaker was arrested at Arp and jailed in Comanche County awaiting trial for stealing peanuts from a Robinson Springs farm in March. I W Crow of De Leon surrendered to local officers and is held for trial. Weldon Byrd, arrested near Robinson Springs a month ago, is also charged with peanut theft.
