The University of Texas Glee Club performed to one of the largest crowds at the High School Auditorium. Solo and quartet work stood out while choruses captivated listeners. Hawaiian numbers in new garb with ukulele backdrop drew praise and romance, promising a return next season.
News from Houston reports a Houston business men trade excursion arriving in Comanche at 5 p m Thursday April 13. It is hoped Comanche business men will arrange proper reception for their callers.
The community shows renewed zeal this week with two major paint up projects. W. Carroll is repainting his drug store with a bright white finish to symbolize unity of his wares. Little's Barber Shop, recently purchased, also receives a fresh coat of paint to improve its look.

A. H. Noble recently shared hog market figures with the Chief Exponent noting he sold hogs worth 697.48 in five months with pure profit after feeding costs. He cited 15 finished Poland China hogs weighing 2700 pounds and valued at 229.50 on the street, illustrating profitable hog diversification.
Mrs. Lee Lambreth of Elm rove visited her parents the Stab lefields Saturday. T R Randall teaches a singing school at Harmony. Mrs. Ethel Johnson visited Cottonwood parents. Hill Stewart and Thelma Cade attended an event near Sidney. Mattie Duncan of Comanche visited friends Friday through Sunday. Maggie Lee of Comanche saw Josie Killian Friday and Saturday. Newburg beat Cotton Grove 9 to 8 Friday and 14 to 13 Saturday in a baseball game. Local entertainment at Will Beene’s Saturday night.
Miss Lela and Louise Black visited Misses Mary and Ellen Singleton in Brysonville over the weekend. Miss Neil Bryson returned from Post City. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Evridge visited Mrs. J. H. Bryson. Vada Bates returned from DeLeon with her sister Mrs. C. L. Ruff and baby. Gerald Bryson ran an errand in Concho. Mr. Boynton left for Fort Worth for cancer treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Irby hosted a Saturday night party. Chester Harris came from Comanche for the social.
Wednesday evening the H. B. 8 baseball team defeated Newburg by 9 to 6. The game was good throughout with Arthur's pitches stifling the visitors. High School team earns a firm win on the home field.
Merchants and Farmers Carnival held Thursday to Saturday drew praise as the finest event in the area. L G White earned lasting respect from Comanche citizens for his leadership. The fair showcased stock, poultry, handiwork, and progressive merchants booths with notably graft-free, money-spending games absent. Each night offered lively merriment, widely enjoyed by attendees.
A detailed tally lists first and second prizes in Live Stock, Cattle, Mules, Poultry, and crafts. Winners include W. H. Lane for hogs and milk cows, Eaton & Knutson for barrows and boars, D. F. Carmichael and Dewey Burns for mule colts, and numerous prize recipients in poultry, embroidery, lace, and quilts led by multiple named residents.
The carnival highlighted a baby show judged by Mrs Mc Clannahan Mrs Baxter and Mr Jno D Waring. Grace Mildred Boatman aged six months won first prize followed by Elizabeth Kirk nine to ten months old. Other entrants include Nadine Lane Earl Hidershell Guynolean Routh Emma Payne Jaunita Smith and many more from local families.
George Montgomery leads a drive to form a baby beef club in Comanche County with 15 boys already entered. He will arrange cattle for showing and feeding. The program aims to teach finance and animal husbandry while offering profitable returns for participants.

Sow owned by W H Lane drew attention at the Carnival exhibition weighing 708 pounds after weaning her pigs. Observers doubt she would reach 900 pounds in better flesh. She is 3 years 3 months old, a Poland China and Jersey mix. She has 72 pig litters in lifetime, with 16 in one birth. A drive to fund her upkeep and chase a record is underway.
The Schubert Company will give a performance in Comanche on April 22. Locals have welcomed their numerous concerts and look forward to another pleasing visit by the ensemble.
