Brady Martin met with the Chamber of Commerce in Comanche to establish a jelly making plant. He has long used surplus Comanche berries and plans expansion to secure berries from a wider area. A permanent plant would create a stable market, boost berry acreage, and advance the town’s agricultural program.

Beattie People for the benefit of Beattie Methodist Church plan an event on a night in March. Admission is 2 shillings and 15 cents.

The Comanche Lion's Band will give its first public concert Sunday at 3 p m. at the Band Stand on the square. Director Harmon Howard says interest has grown since the band’s organization this month with growing membership and public support for the town’s musical promotion.
The Beattie Bible Singing Class will perform Tuesday evening April 3 at Beattie High School auditorium. The event features songs by county’s finest singers and an auction of useful items to raise funds for the piano fund with Comanche business men helping.
Reese Co. Rev. J. D. Smoot left Monday for Frost to conduct a revival that began Tuesday. The ad notes OT i Leg Agegressin and Pellets are carried.
Elkins Tin Shop produces fly traps per government specifications. The small craft operation supplies pest control devices under official guidelines for public health use.
Comyn High School led in Class B and Class A track and field cups as the Comanche County Interscholastic League crowned champions after a two day meet. Gustine, Sidney, Downing and De Leon split runners up and Rural Ward Schools added points across events.
The Beattie School won the ten dollar prize from the Coman che Lions Club for registering the greatest number of citizens. Sidney came second. T. D. Parsons of Sidney won five dollars. Mr. and Mrs. V. A. McBride of Imola won two fifty for the couple with the greatest distance. Beattie narrowly led Sidney in total registrations with nine family members present.
A neighbor borrowed the paper to learn where A. M. Ruth advertised a Georgia stock for sale. The two then began trading observations, noting a subscriber who values the Chief’s advertising and reads for value.
Unofficial sources say Gustine and Lamkin will gain power service within months from the Texas Louisiana Power Company High Lines. The firm recently moved the Gustine plant from Sid Ford and will add larger engines to meet rising demand. Construction in Pecos Oil fields will trigger surveys from Carlton to Gustine and Lamkin.
One man, known as Red McNamee, jailed Saturday on a charge of receiving stolen property linked to the Gustine Mercantile Company burglary from last fall. Reports say Mrs McClannahan underwent an operation in Waxahachie Monday as neighbors learn the details.
Mr and Mrs Ed Sanders enjoy a week in Austin. John H. Garner of Dallas and FE Alvis of Gatesville were business visitors in Comanche Tuesday. Mrs M B Barcroft, Willie Stewart, Winnie Cameron and Jack Satterfield visited Mrs Ollie Waldrop in Fort Worth, who departs for California this week. Turham Bros advertise extra specials for the weekend.
A noon Sunday blaze devastated Gustine, destroying six business houses and a double building, damaging two more firms and several residences. Fire spread despite efforts by 300 locals. Comanche and windmill water fought the flames but the Lee Building and adjacent properties suffered major damage. Loss estimated at 50,000 to 75,000 dollars with Saddles Drug Store stock partially damaged. Fire departments fought for hours to save the town.
Wilmot eighteen son of Mr and Mrs John H Sides of Sidney community died after a Studebaker he drove overturned Saturday night March 24 near Blanket. He was found by Mr and Mrs W F McNamee and taken to Comanche for treatment but died about 90 minutes later. Funeral arrangements pending others listed as survivors.
