1948 Motor License Tags Due By April 1
Comanche County residents face a final week rush as about 2,000 vehicles are already registered with another 2,000 expected before the Thursday deadline. Tax Assessor J. E. Lightfoot urges people to bring 1947 registration receipts or titles to speed processing at the county office or De Leon sub-station. Duplicate payments are avoided by registering in the correct county. Under new law the first 50,000 in collections stay for county roads and bridges, with excess split between state and county.

Oil Lease Brings 25000 In Comanche County
One half interest in 78 acres of the William DeMoss Survey was leased by T A Kirk of Abilene to the Coast Oil Company of Alice for 25000. The land lies near Gorman in Comanche County, near 150 acres owned by Hugh Millington. Fifteen building permits have been issued under a new city ordinance requiring a 1 dollar permit fee for all building or repair projects costing 100 or more. Many listed permits include churches, a parsonage, garages, a funeral home addition, and home repairs across Comanche.

The VFW presented Your Face Is Familiar at Comanche High School auditorium last Friday night to strong applause.
