Barrett Feeds 490 Head of Cattle at Comanche Ranch
Walter Barrett shipped two carloads of fat Shorthorn steers from his Comanche area ranch to market this week, averaging about 1100 pounds and selling around 10.5 cents per pound for roughly $115 a head after 150 days on feed. He has fed out over 1500 cattle in eight months, with 150 steers in one lot and 340 Hereford yearlings in another, feeding on ground feed with ideal water and shade on Mercer Creek. The 2200 acre Barrett ranch, near Comanche County’s rich range, includes 150 cows with calves, yearlings, bulls, and 1800 sheep, built on land partially formerly owned by Dr. Montgomery and acquired from George Luker.

Radio reports claim a catastrophic blast at the New London school in Texas killed hundreds of students and wounded many.
