Comanche Men Seek Road Aid at State Highway Meet
A Comanche County delegation headed for Austin to press the State Highway Commission for improvements on U S Highway No 67 and for a bridge across Helmsley Creek near Gustine. A second group planned to meet with Highway Commissioner Harry Hines in Wichita Falls to push for a 36 West route aid.

Death Toll Presses Comanche and Statewide
Comanche and Comanche County face a severe epidemic with many deaths as illnesses spread. Several locals are buried elsewhere while recent funerals unfold in the area. Thompson Bruton, son of Mrs. G A Bruton, lived in Havana Cuba and was buried in Louisiana. Rev. W P Hatchett, of Lamesa, died at his home and was buried here.

Reverend W P Hatchett 77 longtime Lamesa minister dies
Reverend W P Hatchett a 77 year old Baptist minister from Lamesa died at his home after a stroke. Funeral services were held at Lamesa Baptist Church with burial in Oakwood Cemetery Comanche. He lived in Comanche 1904 to 1910 and spent 29 years in Lamesa with stints in Cross Plains and Plainview. Survived by six children including Earl Hatchett of Comanche and Sam P Hatchett of Washington DC, two sisters remain in Erath County.

John Thompson Bruton 47, born Marion Louisiana, died in a Miami hospital after 24 hours illness. He was president of Pan-American Life Insurance Co and connected with a Texas firm. Survived by wife Ellen Airair and two daughters Elena and Jane. Burial in Alexandria, Louisiana. He lived in Havana most of his life and aided Cuban development. Funeral attendance listed from Texas.

Sheriff Wid Spivey of Comanche recovered an electric drill in Fort Worth on Wednesday. The drill is alleged to have been stolen from the Paul Jeanes residence in Comanche and later sold in Tarrant County. R. H. Cloud and Herbert Cloud are jailed in Comanche on theft charges connected to the drill. Their father D Cloud was arrested and released on a $500 bond on receiving and concealing stolen property charges.
