The Booster Edition of the Chief Exponent thanks supporters and urges subscribers to share copies. It promotes Dollar Day bargains, urges buyers to study ads for best value, and promises a history of Comanche business and local people.
A local resident died Tuesday evening at his home in Comanetchg and was laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery Wednesday evening by the Odd Fellows. A devoted neighbor and friend, he was a longtime member of the community, with a full obituary to appear in the extra edition.
The Y W A will meet Monday afternoon March 20 with Miss Alma Neely at 3 30. The society will pack a box for the Howard Payne Cottage Home. All members urged to attend and bring a donation.
Fire destroyed Jim Hill's barn at an early hour, with investigators tracing the blaze to recently burned trash from the previous afternoon. Local crews battled the flames, and no injuries were reported.
Edgar Nabors announces a Byrne Simplified Shorthand class to begin soon, promising twenty lessons across two nights weekly and very reasonable charges. He urges interested persons to see or write him at 107 Comanche, Texas, to arrange enrollment. The notice also mentions produce buying, Slider & Lacy, and Panama hats at The Burks Mercantile Co.
Carnival opens March 23 offering cash and merchandise premiums to improve stock quality in Comanche. Stock judging Friday at 10 a.m. and poultry Saturday at 10 a.m. Prizes include cash, goods from local banks, merchants, and firms with many named sponsors. Entries due by noon March 22 with ribbons awarded for First and Second place.

Sergeant Mark A. Dobbs of the 13th Cavalry Machine Gun Battalion was killed in the Villa Raid on Columbus New Mexico. A Comanche raised boy and cousin of Allan and Ira Cunningham of Newburg, he was the son of James P. Dobbs known as Perry. He lived in Newburg over 25 years and is mourned by many friends in the county.
Comanche High School will host Proctor High School for the season opener on Saturday March 18 at the High School grounds. Officials expect a strong team year and a good streak of victories ahead. An admission fee will be charged to cover expenses. Town support urged for the players.
The Queen of the Carnival will be crowned on the public square after the auto parade. Candidates include Miss Gene St. Clair Miss Evelyn Thadberg and Miss Thalia Kearby. One will be chosen by popular vote.
The vacancy in Precinct No. 1 caused by Mr. Dobbs death will not be filled before the primary. The County Judge holds appointing power but Judge McMillan favors letting the voters decide in the primary and would only appoint the Democratic nominee afterward.
The Pythian Sisters and about 75 guests met in Castle Hall on March 9 for a cheerful social afternoon. Forty-Two was the card game with green Cloverleaf score cards and mint treats. Mrs Walter Montgomery won the top score and received a book. Misses Blue Hamilton and Kittles provided music.
The Burks Mercantile Co announces new stock of straw and Panama hats arriving for the season. Customers encouraged to inspect styles and prices as limited quantities contact store for availability.
The Burks Mere Co announces the opening of its new facility. Executives say the event marks a milestone in local industry with the plant creating jobs and boosting regional commerce.
The Comanche County Association Woman's Missionary Union met in Comanche on March 10 led by President Mrs. Geo A Curlee and Secretary Miss Amelia Scott. They assigned church supervision to vice presidents and urged organization of Ladies Aid Societies with a goal to at least double the counts reported last year.

Dr. I. T. Clemons states he will be away until about May 1 to pursue postgraduate medical study in New Orleans. He leaves his books with 8. P. Smith for collection, and asks anyone wishing to pay him to do so via Smith.
