Fort Worth Bus Drive Boosts Stock Show in Fort Worth
Seventy five Fort Worth business men and 37 members of the T C U Horned Frog Band visited Comanche Tuesday morning in three buses to promote the Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show set for Fort Worth March 11 20. The band played on the courthouse square and was welcomed by the Comanche High School Band. Mayor Hoff gave a welcome and Bess Coughlin sang while Edgar Deen Jr introduced. The trip was sponsored by the Roundup Club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce and D G Liggett urged Comanche residents to attend.

Hazel Dell School District will vote on raising the school tax from 50 to 75 cents per 100 dollars of value. The election occurs April 2, alongside the trustee election. Mrs Bill Johnson Dies at Gustine. Mary Elizabeth Johnson, 78, wife of W R Bil Johnson, died at her Gustine Route 1 home after an illness. Funeral services were held at Union Cemetery. A longtime Comanche County resident since 56 years, she was born March 23, 1860 in Alabama.

Mrs. Lois Edwards Laid To Rest In Comanche
Mrs. Lois Laverne Edwards died March 7 in Graham Texas after months of illness. Funeral services were held at the Kendall home in Comanche with Rev. J D Smoot and Rev. E N Scarlett. interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery. She was born January 8 1913 in Comanche and married J Clarence Edwards December 7 1930 leaving three sons Jimmy Rex and Leo. Surviving also include her husband parents and several Kendall and Edwards siblings and numerous out of town mourners attended from Abilene Graham Goldthwaite and Colorado City.

The Newburg 4 H Club formed the Junior Progress Club name at a recent monthly meeting. Robert Earl Seay was elected president and led discussions with County Agent N E Scudder and Mr Howard. Members prepared work sheets and planned demonstrations while some entered Calf Lamb and Pig Show activities in Comanche. In February Comanche County counted 65 direct relief recipients and 14 clothing families through the welfare and sewing rooms. Freak twin-headed lamb born to Keith Lane's flock
A five year old ewe owned by rancher Keith Lane produced a double headed lamb at birth. The abnormal creature died during birth and consisted of two bodies sharing one shoulder blade and chest bone, two front legs but four hind legs. The anomaly involved two male specimens joined at the shoulder region and is being mounted by a taxidermist.

Will Stevens Buried Sunday in Gentry's Mill Cemetery
Funeral services for Will Stevens a former Lamkin resident were held Sunday afternoon at Gentry's Mill Cemetery with Elder Len Dalton officiating. Stevens 53 died Friday night in a Hamilton hospital from a heart attack. He lived in the Shire community. He is survived by his widow two children and his parents J A Stevens and Mrs Stevens of Lamkin along with five brothers and four sisters. A large turnout from the Lamkin area attended.

Benton Layman Granted Second Furlough in Comanche
Comanche life former Benton Layman received another 30 day furlough from Governor James V. Allred upon a petition by Charlie Carnes and support from 200 Comanche County citizens. Major George B. Clack presented the furlough, reviving a prior grant that was revoked for penitentiary rule issues. Layman aims to reform and will heed laws whether free or jailed.
