Uncle Billie Stewart Dies After Heart Attack Driving
W. J. Uncle Billie Stewart 71 of Sidney died of a heart attack early Saturday while driving toward Comanche. The car left the road, but he was dead at the scene. His son William Fort Stewart was slightly cut. Funeral at Indian Creek Cemetery with Rev. J. D. Smoot and Rev. R. T. Wallace officiating. He was born Sept. 30, 1872 in Indian Creek and survived by a widow, four children, four grandchildren, and Navy enlistee Hilton Stewart overseas. He was a longtime member of the Indian Creek Methodist Church.

Roy Dawson Hammack Seaman Second Class, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hammack of Comanche, is reported missing following action with the U S Navy. He had served since last June after working in local meat markets including Piggly Wiggly Modern Way and his father's business. His brother Sgt Wes Hammack is in the service at Norfolk Virginia. Navy telegram says details unavailable and asks not to divulge ship or station.

Army Air Medal Presented to Comanche Family
Mr and Mrs Troy Marshall received the Army Air Medal for their son Set Marshall who died in action over Germany July 13 1944. A Brownwood Army Air Field officer presented the medal along with the Purple Heart awarded posthumously. Set Marshall was a Flying Fortress gunner based in England and a 1941 Comanche Indians football captain. Elder son Lt Charles Marshall serves with US forces in China.

Peanuts priced at 160 dollars per ton for Spanish type with 70 percent kernel content. premiums or discounts for other qualities. Cotton goal 6100 acres, 1000 less than 1944, with non-recourse loans at 92 percent of parity and premiums for quality. Wheat goal 6000 acres backed by 90 percent parity loans. Death of Pvt Alphus Caraway Believed Killed in Belgium
Pvt Alphus L Caraway the Gustine native reported missing in Belgium in January was killed that day according to a War Department notice to his wife. He had just over a month overseas and saw combat for the first time after 17 weeks basic training at Fort McClellan Alabama. He was born March 15 1921 and was a Gustine High School graduate class of 1939. He lived near Gustine until June 22 1944 induction. He leaves a widow Edgilee Hayes and 20 months old son Donald Lee. his parents and siblings are listed with three brothers in the armed forces. A letter from his commanding officer said Alphus was a splendid soldier whose death was honorable and meritorious and he was given a Protestant burial.
