A joint De Leon Comanche event marks the first hard surfaced section of Highway 81 from De Leon to Fredericksburg. The celebration on March 26 on Comanche Court House Lawn will feature speakers from towns along the route, Judge W R Ely as principal speaker, and W H Carpenter as master of ceremonies. About 150 De Leon citizens are expected to attend, with a motorcade of over fifty cars from Comanche.

John S Hart dies after heart attack in auto crash
John S Hart 59 high way maintenance foreman died Saturday afternoon in his East Comanche home area. He left for his office after lunch and crashed his car into a telephone post, with death attributed to natural causes likely a heart attack. Hart had been ill with influenza ten days earlier and had just returned to work Wednesday. He was active in town business before the fatal crash.

Crowd packs pension meeting in district court room
A large crowd filled the District Court Room for a Townsend Old Age Pension Plan mass meeting on Saturday afternoon. B F Cadenhead presided with brief talks by Will Green of De Leon Hardy Creamer and Mrs S P Smith before Oscar Callaway spoke. Two Arrested on Thefts After 600 Mile Chase
Clea Echols and Aubrey Wilson were arrested in De Leon by City Marshal Clarence Lightfoot on car theft and forged bill of sale charges. They are held in Breckenridge jail after a 600 mile pursuit by Sheriff John Reese and deputies following thefts in Eliasville on February 19 and Breckenridge on February 21.
