Towns Celebrates 107th Birthday at Gustine Nursing Home

Mrs. Mary Florence Towns known as Granny at Smith Memorial Nursing Home Gustine turned 107 on Monday March 4. Resident since 1968 she was born in Tennessee March 4 1867 and spent youth in Texas recalling Dublin Fort Worth Granbury and Indian memories. She has outlived her three husbands and remains alert with a walking stick gifted at age 102.

Elementary Open House Thursday at Comanche School

The Comanche Elementary School invites all to the Parent-Teacher Club meeting during Open House on Thursday March 7. PT Club meets in the cafeteria 7 to 7 45 p.m. Open House runs to 9 p.m. with a musical program by fourth and fifth graders and discussion of four year old Early Childhood program enrollment.

Sidney School Receives High Marks After TEA Review

The Texas Education Agency accreditation team led by Ned Conner, Dale Carmichael and Al Fant reviewed Sidney Independent School District in Comanche County on December 10, 1973. The district serves K 12 on one campus with 132 pupils, 11.1 teachers, and plans for special education with Plan A. Minor issues include unsigned board minutes and incomplete detailing of board actions.

Kathy Renshaw daughter of Mr and Mrs Truman Renshaw and Reo Brownlee son of Mr and Mrs Doyle Brownlee were named Mr and Mrs CHS for 1973 74. Kathy is CHS Band president with multiple honors including class offices National Honor Society color guard and library club. Reo moved this year and is active in sports earning second team All District football defensive halfback and member of CHS golf team Future Teachers of America and Student Council.

Revival Set At Methodist Church

First United Methodist Church hosts a singing revival starting Sunday evening March 10 at 7 00 with morning and evening services through Thursday. Rev Walter Wooley Takes Post at East Side Baptist Comanche

The Rev Walter W Wooley formerly of Crystal City becomes pastor of East Side Baptist Church Comanche starting March 3. The Wooleys and their son Greg moved into the parsonage at 1000 E Walcott with further moves planned for their son Robert after May graduation. An invitation is issued for services and an open house at the parsonage after Sunday worship.
