Superintendent H R Jefferies promotes Texas Public Schools Week March 4 8 inviting parents students and community members to visit local schools. Open House planned at Comanche Elementary with Elementary PTA meeting March 7 at 7 00 p m.
24 hour period from 8 am to 8 am with daily highs and lows for February dates. Temperature highs range from 56 to 80 degrees and lows from 22 to 45. Rainfall totals of .85 inches with .74 on February 21 and additional data on February 22.

The 52nd District Court convenes Monday in Comanche with grand jurors summoned for 9 00 a m. The runner up state champion Indian Maidens place five players on the All District team and three on the select squad. Linda Andrews and Cyndra Frick repeat as nominees, with John Wagonner also back on the first team.
Farmers and ranchers in Comanche County are invited to a February 28 training in the Farm Bureau Building at 9 a.m. to learn about an experimental M-44 cyanide ejector program. Participants may be certified to purchase devices and must file monthly reports for EPA and TAE to assess safety and effectiveness.
A contested race develops for the one year unexpired term on the Comanche Independent School Board. Bill Blue and Doyle Brownlee announced for the post. Blue has two children in school Sandy an eighth grader and Billy in first grade. Brownlee has a son Reo a senior at Comanche High. Previously announced for two three year terms were Brooks Kerley Garland Hicks Billy Ray Evans and Dr A I Davidson. Filing deadline is March 6 and election is April 6.
Comanche welcomes two new shops this week. The Back Home Store run by Doris Maxwell offers needlework supplies and refinishing lessons in antiques, located in the old Comanche National Bank Building. McDonald's Bargain Barn run by Fern and Mac McDonald sells used furniture antiques and more on Fort Worth Highway 700 East Central. Both invite visits. Back Home Store hours are 10 to 5 Wednesday through Saturday, Bargain Barn open six days a week.
Postmaster Jim Carpenter announced new rates effective March 2. Air Mail rises to 13c per ounce within the United States while regular surface mail becomes 10c per ounce and post cards 8c per ounce. Airmail to 11c per ounce.
Texas Power and Light Company president J F Skelton announced major investments for 1974 across 51 counties including Comanche. The program totals a record 193 116 000 for new construction to meet rising demand, with eight large generating units and a 775 000 kilowatt unit at the DeCordova Station near Granbury in Hood County.
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Fickel of Stephenville purchase Montgomery Ward Catalog Stores in Comanche and De Leon from Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Jones. They will operate the stores soon and plan to make Comanche their home.
The 4 H Share the Fun Festival will be held Saturday at 7 30 p.m. in Comanche High School Auditorium. County Extension Agents Martha Stephens and Floyd Key invite the public to attend the no admission event featuring five county 4 H clubs competing for a traveling trophy with ribbons.
