Two Comanche County Men Die Beside Wrecked Truck
Two Comanche County men Aubrey Stark and Floyd Newby were found dead Tuesday morning beside a wrecked 1935 Ford pickup that plunged 20 feet through a partially dismantled bridge over Horse Creek south of Comanche. The bodies were recovered about 8 45 by Mrs. Herbert Butler and her son, with sheriff reports suggesting instant death Monday night. Stark lived in Comanche with a large family and had recently moved from Hasse Proctor, while Newby, a World War II veteran and rock mason, was survived by his mother, siblings, and his Proctor ties. The accident occurred on a bridge closed to public use, near the Butlers’ home. Funeral arrangements for Stark were pending. Newby’s service details were not provided.
