Claude George Foreman of The Comanche Chief Dies at 71
Claude George known as T C George longtime Comanche Chief worker dies at home after illness begun last September. He served in World War I as a sergeant major with the 90th Division and returned to The Chief before brief stints with Cisco News. He was active in the American Legion and left a legacy as a respected printer and local naturalist. He is survived by his wife Oda Guthrie, daughter Mrs George Buckey, grandson George Buckey, his mother Mrs Bess George, and siblings.

The Choir School at First Methodist Church taught by Carl Brumbelow and Miss Marguerite Ross held a Sunday vesper service at five o'clock in a large congregation. Richard Armstrong led as cross bearer with Gene Arthur and Bobby Marshall as flag bearers. Harold te and Harold Ray Burks served as altar boys. The program opened with an opening roll and the Processional Hymn Rejoice Ye Pure In Heart, and the event praised church music education.

Private Craddock Returns From Overseas Service
Private Harold R. Craddock husband of Margaret Cunningham Craddock is back from almost a year of overseas service after an eye injury in Italy. He participated in the invasion of North Africa and later helped liberate Italy. He landed at Newport News June 14 and arrived in Comanche County last weekend. He reports back to duty at Fort Sam Houston July 17. His parents travel from Wier Kansas to visit this weekend.

Billie Humphrey Dies of Injuries in Fort Worth
Billie D. Humphrey died at a Fort Worth hospital on Saturday June 23 after being injured when run over by a pickup last week. Funeral services were held at Union Cemetery near Gustine with Rev. S J Isham officiating. He was born March 26 1927 in Comanche County and survived by his parents Mr and Mrs A L Humphrey and several siblings. Felton Biggs, the other youth injured, is reported to be progressing well.

Comanche County has raised about 200000 of its 460000 war bond goal with a July 8 end date stated by War Finance Chairman E S Fagan.
