W. B. Pope of Corpus Christi, candidate for governor, will speak in the district courtroom in Haven Saturday July 5 at 8:30. A cordial invitation is extended to everyone to attend and cheer him.

A large number of Comanche people will attend the Sidney picnic today. The Comanche band will help entertain and promote the Comanche County Fair. The event is under the Farm Bureau and Corton Association. Big preparations ensure a great time.

The George W. Tate stock of dry goods and clothing, occupying part of the Roberson Sisters building since the year's start, was sold to W. Homer Shanks and J. B. Easterling of Clyde Texas. The stock moves to Clyde this week. Easterling runs a Clyde mercantile store and Shanks is a Clyde banker. Roberson Sisters continue in business at the same stand and will expand to fill the vacated space.
A large crowd gathers at Gustine for Trades Day with candidates and residents mingling. The chief editor, meeting relatives of Charlie Williams, notes farming activity. corn and cotton look fair despite dry weather. Local candidates announce, Rev Boiles invites to revival, and J P Hoff with J A Barton promote the Comanche County Fair.
County Agent J A Barton urges Comanche County farmers to attend the fifteenth annual farmers short course at A M College from July 28 to August 2. The program welcomes men women boys and girls and aims to improve farm home life. Railroads offer a special one and one fifth fare round trip to attendees.
Sam Davis exchanged his 160 acres on Rush creek with Mrs. Mary E Kilfoil for 560 acres in Union county New Mexico. Davis will relocate to New Mexico while Kilfoil will reside on the 160 acre property.
The Chief’s special edition honors pioneer families of Comanche County, noting W. D. Conway and the Conway lineage. G. W. Conway arrived in 1871 and ran a Prairie Dell general store for three decades, forming a well known county presence. W. D. Conway, born in Llano County, later settled in Comanche County and has been a resident for over fifty years.

The Majestic Theater lists a week from Monday to Saturday with special cast in Captain, Douglas McLean performances, and the musical King of Wild Orbs. Blazes comedy features are also highlighted across the lineup.
J. P. Hoff announces arrangements for a band stand to be erected on the courthouse lawn. Work will start Saturday morning with hope to finish that day. The stand, located on the east side of the courthouse, aims to be ready for the July Fourth concerts.
Mrs. Sarah Caroline Pinkard wife of D P Pinkard died at her Blanket home after a lengthy illness. Born March 29 1849 in Smith County she married Daniel Perry Pinkard December 24 1868 and raised twelve children including Clara Franklin Alma Stewart Irving Pinkard Mary Etta Starling Paul Pinkard Maggie Stewart Perry Pinkard Rufus Pinkard and Eva McCorkle. She was a devout Methodist and sister of D A Barcroft with ties to the Comanche county area.
Mr and Mrs Turner celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on June 21 at their Comanche county farm home. Family and close friends joined an old fashioned dinner while reminiscing on decades of marriage and raised a toast to their partnership. The couple married June 21 1874 and are respected pioneer citizens. a list of relatives attended including Mollie Davis and extended Roberson family members. Also noted are health updates on Mrs Lane and Kilpatrick family travels to Dallas for summer work and a return journey with Kathleen Kilpatrick.
