J R Barry and E E Anthony visited East Texas where berry canning is active and stated that Comanche could gain a berry packing plant if 500 acres of berries are assured, promising local payroll and substantial revenue for growers and pickers. Berries sell for about $1.50 per crate and contracts for 1927 are already in place.

Shooting Near Hazeldell Between Neighbors Rocks Kennedys
J L Hillhouse of Hazeldell shot J M Kennedy in a field road near a plowed lot last Wednesday morning. Kennedy, 70, was taken to Hamilton sanitarium in serious but not certain danger. Hillhouse, 49, surrendered to Sheriff Gilbreath in Comanche with a $2500 bond on an assault to murder charge after claiming Kennedy opened fire first, claiming preexisting stock dispute and warnings. Both men have families and long county residence.
