Pioneer Methodist Preacher W Gressett Dies at X Years
The Rev W Gressett a pioneer Methodist preacher in the area died last Friday. Born January 13 1847 in Jasper County Mississippi he served in the Confederate Army at 16. He married Mary L Hayes in Louisiana 1869 and moved to Texas in 1875 settling in Comanche County. He leaves multiple children and was later married to Mrs W E Davidson. Funeral conducted by Rev H S Anglin per a prior agreement.

City Uses 20000 for Street Paving Plan Maturing
The city council issues 20000 street improvement warrants offered at par and interest to fund paving. Engineer E D Lumsden of Sherman will supervise work. One third payment on paving and full payment on intersections will be made from the fund with priority to public square and main streets. Paving remains voluntary for property owners.

J C Henderson Home Destroyed by Fire in Noon Blaze
The west city home of J C Henderson was completely burned Wednesday afternoon. Henderson carried 1000 on the house and 500 on furniture with nothing saved. Origin of the fire is unknown. Henderson saw smoke, searched for a neighbor’s fire, and found his roof ablaze within minutes.
