Palmer Reese wedding in Comanche honors two local families

The marriage of Garrett E. Palmer and Inez Reese took place Wednesday June 14 at the Reese home in Comanche. The ceremony featured a formal bridal procession, music by Rita Harris and Eugenia St Clair, and the Rev George A Curlee officiating. Guests included out of town visitors from Dublin Waco Killeen Gatesville Gustine and Gatesville.

Comanche Couple Quietly Wed At Home

Miss Bessie B. Graham and Carl Altos Thornton were married Monday evening June 12 at the bride’s parents home in Comanche. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. White at 9 p m in a simple family affair. Both are natives of Comanche County. Graham a long-time primary teacher and Thornton son of former sheriff J H Thornton. The couple left that night to attend school amid many local congratulations.

Comanche Couple Announces Summer Wedding

Cards announce the June 27 wedding of Miss Willie Lewis to Mr Uriel Virgil Cook. Miss Lewis is daughter of Sam Lewis of Harmony community and well known in Comanche. The couple plans to reside in Voss Texas.

Fire destroys church and parsonage in Blanket

A blaze Monday evening leveled the Baptist church and its parsonage in Blanket. Firemen feared it might spread, calling for extra equipment, but suppression succeeded and only the two buildings burned. The origin of the fire remains unknown.

Editors Royalty-Treated On El Paso Trip

The Texas Press Association enjoyed lavish hospitality on a rail journey from Fort Worth to El Paso. A T and P railway special train carried North Texas editors while South Texas riders used similar service from San Antonio. Stops included Weatherford Cisco Baird Abilene and Sweetwater with a warm welcome and a Nolan county supper on the square. In El Paso the group toured Juarez with the Mexican Consul and a band concert before visiting the jail and historic sites marked by battles and bombardments.

Burglars Chase Officers After Nighttime Break In

Last Tuesday night three men attempted to enter Kirk's grocery and then climbed to the roof of the 5 and 10 Cent Store. Officers Blue and Miller pursued as the trio escaped via the awning. No clues yet identify the intruders. over $100 was said to be in the cash drawer.

Robbery at Home Ends With Missing Goods Noted

Last Monday evening Mr and Mrs W Odom returned from work to find their home entered by intruders. Nothing valuable taken but the larder raided and supper partly eaten. Likely the work of boys or children through the front door. Mr Odom laments the loss of a planned roosting ear supper.
