Comanche Ladies Organize Red Cross Chapter Rally Planned

Comanche women form a local Red Cross chapter with Alma Neely as chair and Mary Reese as treasurer. A grand rally is set for Saturday night at the courthouse to raise funds toward a $1,000,000 goal with a Sunday worship talk and collection by all city pastors.

Death of Mrs. Claude Wells in Dallas

Mrs. Claude Wells died June 14 at St Pauls Sanitarium Dallas and was buried June 15 at Pendergrass Cemetery. A. Vaneleave, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Vancleave, born March 30 1895 in Comanche county, grew up there and married Claude Wells November 2 1913 at Sidney. they had two children who survive. The article notes sorrow and condolences to her husband and family.

Waldrop Lyon Wedding Held At Dalhart Home

The wedding of Fred Lyon and Wynnie Waldrop took place yesterday June 14 at the groom’s mother’s home in Dalhart with Rev. F T Charlton officiating. After a wedding dinner the couple left for a short honeymoon in Amarillo and will reside with the groom’s mother after returning. Wynnie, a trained nurse at Owens-Davis Hospital, is well regarded in Dalhart, daughter of J A Waldrop and sister of Ruth and Mrs Will Robinson, with roots in Comanche. The couple receive warm congratulations from many friends.

School Board Elects Two New Teachers

The City School Board met Monday night and elected two teachers, Ada Harvey and Annabelle Wilcoxen. Both are Comanche girls and will be valuable additions to the faculty, completing the required staff for Comanche High School this year.
