Sandra Williams named Junior Miss Comanche. first runner up Marsha Wilkerson and second Evelyn Blackwell also honored with sponsors and awards Nineteen contestants competed in the Miss Comanche segment and eleven in Junior Miss Comanche.

Cook Accepts College Position For 1964-65

Comanche High School teacher Don Cook will leave for Wayland Baptist College Plainview to instruct Freshman English for 1964-65. Cook has taught English and Spanish at Comanche High School for three years and aims for doctoral studies later. He received the Arrowhead this spring.

Mrs W O Page Named New Chamber Secretary

Mrs Wesley O Page formerly Ruth Cox has been appointed secretary of the Comanche Chamber of Commerce. She has served as deputy district clerk and as secretary to various lawyers. The C of C is now located in the Hathcock Building just north of the IOOF Building.

Local Boys Attend Salvation Army Camp

Four Comanche boys Larry Williams Rickey Kennedy Micky Howerton and Travis Allen Ripley left Sunday for a week at a Salvation Army summer camp in Midlothian. The program provides swimming boating fishing and other sports under constant supervision. Mrs. Martin Eads chairman of the Comanche Boys Camp praises the community’s support.

Comanche Band Parents Club Sets June 15 Meeting

A special call meeting of the Comanche Band Parents Club is scheduled for Monday night at 7 30. Final plans for the Jaycee Convention in Dallas on June 23 and 24 will be announced. Band director Jack King urges all parents to attend. Miss Cathy Fanning, daughter of Mr and Mrs James Fanning, spent the last week in Brenham visiting Mr and Mrs J D Passel.

The Worlds Champions of the Junior Rodeos perform in Comanche Thursday through Saturday June 11 12 13 at the AJRA show. Cowboys and cowgirls from Texas Oklahoma New Mexico compete in age groups 8 12 15 18 19 with prizes funded by local groups. Death of Rev Henry M Chambers Texas pastor dies at 51

Rev Henry Milton Chambers 51 longtime pastor of the First Baptist Church Comanche died in a local hospital after a heart attack Tuesday June 9 Funeral services were held Thursday June 11 at the church Interment Oakwood Cemetery Comanche Pallbearers included local names The church membership stood at 1100 with 650 additions during his 11 years of leadership Chambers also served as Army chaplain and held lieutenant colonel rank in the reserves
