Sheriff J T Gilbreath and Mr A Pate led three arrests Saturday in liquor cases. A soft drink stand run by W C Childers near the square yielded several bottles claimed as home brew. the proprietor was charged with violation of the prohibition law and released on $500 bond. Matt Douglas’s premises found beer. he pleaded guilty to vagrancy and paid 25 dollars plus costs. Tom Douglas was arrested Monday for selling intoxicating liquor and held on $1000 bond awaiting Grand Jury action.

Fire of unknown origin Saturday night in R. C. Stapp's drug store area destroyed two two story frame buildings and a one story Masonic structure. Ownership included E. L. Fines barber shop, Mas on e lodge, I. O. O. F lodge and R. G. Stapp drug store with upper lodges. A W Wallace filling station and tailor shop operated by R. H. Burchfield also burned. Southeast wind and lack of water prevented containment. part loss covered by insurance.

Aged Mule Dies Near Comanche Owner Recall
A thirty seven year old mule owned by J. P. Lee died last Friday near Comanche. The animal, foaled in Hill County in 1890, was sired by Old Tate, a famous jack owned by Lee at that time. Lee drove the mule from Hill to Mills County in 1891 and it was worked regularly up until its death a week ago.
