Mrs Tom Preston Observes Her 90th Birthday

Mrs. Tom Preston of Comanche celebrated her 90th birthday on July 22 at Waco with daughter Mrs. J. W. Dailey and several sons in attendance. Attending were Wilson Straley of Kansas City Ernest Straley of Comanche Platt Straley of Anson and Mas Straley of Alice. Born in 1857 in Fontenebec Iowa she was reared in Kansas and moved to Texas with her first husband O Straley who died in Comanche in 1901.

Miss Ruth McCorkle Weds Victor P Piana in Ironwood

Ruth McCorkle and Victor P. Piana wed July 6 in De Leon at noon with Rev. R Bowman officiating. The bride, a Texas State College for Women graduate, wore aqua crepe with brown accessories and carried a white Bible with gardenias. The couple plan to live in Berger after a Canada trip and parental visit. Piana is a University of Michigan graduate and Phillips Petroleum chemical engineer.

County 4-H Club Dress Revue Held

The Comanche County 4-H Dress Revue featured club members modeling outfits before mothers and friends. Wadena George of the Comyn 4-H Club won blue, earning representation at the State Dress Revue in College Station September 4 and 5. Red ribbon went to Peggy Parks Mae Wilson Billie Jane Bolton Dora Jones Joyce Hancock Wanda Johnson. white ribbon to Mina Pearl Bjorn and An Sutton. Judges were Mrs. Roy Peace Mrs. J W Williams and Mrs. J F Woods.

Mrs Marshall And Mrs Blackwood Hostesses At Bridge

Mrs Blackwood and Mrs Marshall hosted the Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club at the Cactus Inn. Ten tables were arranged for five members and thirty five guests. prizes went to Mrs Stephens and Mrs Slack with Vasco Lee second, Gracie Roberson low. Ice cream, chocolate cake, and olives served to forty guests.

Annual Cunningham Reunion Set for August 9 10

The Cunningham reunion returns to Newburg grounds on Saturday night and Sunday August 9 and 10. Attendees are urged to camp overnight and attend a steak breakfast on the 10th. A Sunday barbecue lunch is planned with pies cakes and other dishes welcome.

Amity The Amity Home Demonstration Club met July 15 at Mrs Claude Griffin's. Program included selections by Mrs Smith and a chair slip cover demo by Mrs West and Mrs Tom West. Annie Lucy Lane County Agent demonstrated landscaping the work area My Back Yard. Social hour featured games with high honors to Mrs Harold Pierson Mrs O Reynolds and Mrs Earl Pringle. Secret pals were revealed and weeks days observed. All members attended except two and refreshments were served to Mesdames Taylor.

Birth of Robert Elliott Long announces in Comanche

County Attorney and Mrs. Robert H. Long of Comanche announce the birth of son Robert Elliott Long on Friday July 25 at Medical Arts Hospital Brownwood. The eight pound baby is reported healthy with paternal grandparents Reverend and Mrs. C. A. Long of Big Spring and maternal grandparents Captain and Mrs. E. D. Edwards of Hampton Virginia. Both mother and child are doing splendidly and expected home later this week. Mrs Meinecke notes continued patronage for her agency.

O Dell Reunion Held at Lake Eanes

The O Dell family reunion on July 21 at Lake Eanes drew 39 attendees from 83 descendants including children grandchildren and great great grandchildren with many members from Comanche Dublin Wichita Falls Eastland and Fort Worth. The gathering planned to become an annual event on the same date with a shared lunch and family fellowship.
