Dent Todd backs Beauford Jester in county race
Gustine leader Sam Todd says interest in politics grows and centers on the Commissioner’s race and County Judge. He backs Beauford Jester for Governor. Visiting out of county, J. M. Rieger of Breckenridge, former Stephens County Judge 1906-12, spoke here. He is not seeking re-election as county attorney but noted the office’s 1945 fees and the county’s $3000 salary limit. He recalled fondly Comanche days and discussed area churches, revival activity, and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church’s presence. The Comanche Roping Club plans a major rodeo not seen since 1928’s Comanche Round-Up with Indians, cowboys, and a large carnival amid heavy rains. Bible thought and reflection conclude the item.
