A Stewart Camper edition edited by Mrs J E Lightfoot highlights a boy winning fourth in a relay at the boys camp where 275 are enrolled in six weeks. Dr George Cox notes most poliomyelitis cases in children and lists nine measures for prevention including waste disposal safe water and sanitation.
The list advises measures for drinking water and pools, covered garbage containers, incineration or sanitary fill, removing unsanitary conditions, personal hygiene, avoiding strain during polio season, and isolating feverish children until a physician diagnoses the illness.
Jan Robertson celebrated her fifth birthday with a party at Veterans Memorial Park at 4:00 pm. Attendees included Cathy Anthony, Jane Caraway, Lynn Waggoner, Ann Williams, and many others, with games, cake, drinks, candy, and multicolored balloons as favors.
Sidney 4-H Club met July 11 at the Homemaking Cottage. Doris Graham was elected president and Dor is Steele vicepresidente, Neta Jean Steele secretary, Shirley Walker treasurer, Carolyn Feril and Jan Caffey reporters. Florence Hall was song leader and Fleur ette Cheatham game leader. Plans were set for the Bread Show in Comanche on July 26 and a picnic in August discussed by leaders Mrs Walker and Mrs Graham.
Miss Dorothy Gene Harris and Robert Wade Coffin were married at 7 p m Saturday July 12 in the First Baptist Church Comanche by Rev. Arthur Johnson. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Jesse Richard Harris of Comanche and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs Sylvester Frizzel Coffin of Robstown.
A wedding detailed in old notes features brown velvet gloves, orchid corsages, a black veil hat, and a four tiered all white cake. The couple planning a Monterrey Mexico wedding trip will reside at 2601 W. Brunson in Midland, Texas, where the bride will teach at Midland Junior High and the groom will work as an inspector for Drileo Company. The document lists many relatives and guests, followed by a Midland reunion note set for the first Sunday in July 1953 with officers Buddy Carter and C. L. Hendrix.
Descendants of the late Thomas and Margaret Carter gathered for their annual reunion on Sunday July 6 at Lake Eanes near Comanche. Attendees included Mr and Mrs W R Coker Mr and Mrs Hilburn Coker Mr and Mrs Leve McCowan Mrs Homer M Martin Jr and son Michael Mr and Mrs Howell W Hilburn and others from Wichita Falls. Additional Carter relatives Sam Carter and Gordon Carter also attended.
Mrs. T. B. Brazier has returned to Point after several months in Comanche caring for her mother, Mrs. W. A. Tipps.
