Automobile thefts hit Comanche area after midnight

Thieves targeted four residences in Comanche's housing area on Monday night. A spare tire was stolen from J. F. Tate's car, a front casing from Slider and Lacy's truck, three casings from S. P. Smith's car, a wheel and casing from Clyde House's car, all likely by an out of town suspect. Officers chase name as possible burglaries.

County Court to Decide on County Agent Retention

In a regular session the Commissioners Court agreed to retain the Cognity Agent if farming sentiment favors it. Citizens from multiple county areas attended a hearing and petitions from communities were presented urging continuation. Petitions from Van Dyke Comynsonville Sidney Beattie Stag Creek Fairview Duster and Energy were offered with talks by local residents.

County Wide Meeting Draws Record Attendance Expected

Comanche County prepares for a Sunday gathering drawing churches from many communities. The event features three services led by Dr. Hogg with additional talks at the tabernacle and churches, plus music by Rev. Goodmaster and Misses Rice and Hogg. The Lake Banes grove hosts noon meals and social time. No swimming allowed.

Fourth Annual Encampment of Comanche County 4-H Club Members

The Fourth Annual Encampment opened with good attendance despite intermittent rain. 74 boys registered by morning. girls from county sections arrived with boys unable to reach town. Opening meeting moved to court house lawn. dormitory use planned in the courthouse. Activities included tours of local plants and farms, judging, games, and club presentations led by Walter Burton.

Callaway Firms Line Up 750 Foot Oil Test Near Comanche

A 750 foot deep test well is planned by Cleve Callaway and associates on the Manning property northeast of Hasse, eight miles north of Comanche. The project targets a deep oil pool across a 1000 acre block with prior wells showing sand and potential oil and gas prospects. Local officials expect drilling to begin after geologists assess the site amid the De Leon area baby finding story.

Three Charged in Liquor Raid on De Leon Highway

Officers Denny Conner and J W Ash raided a filling station on the De Leon Highway between De Leon and Dublin last Tuesday afternoon about four. Fifty bottles of alleged beer were seized. Tom Mahon, operator, faced two selling liquor charges and was released on bond.

Four to Eight Club Execs Plan 4-H Fair Encampment

The Executive Committee of the 4-H clubs met in the district court room last Friday to discuss plans for the 4-H fair. They decided to postpone the encampment to a later date and to continue work on the fair arrangements through the week.
