Mrs. Clara Jane Chilton widow of J B Chilton founder of the Comanche National Bank and daughter of The Comanche Chief founder G A Beelman died at home July 4 after a long illness. Funeral at St Matthew's Episcopal Church July 5 with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Survived by son William C Chilton and two grandchildren Martha Jane Chilton and John Parriott Chilton. She was a noted church and social leader in Comanche.
A revival meeting at Board Church Baptist Church runs Sunday July 14 through July 21. Rev Roy Hill of Gustine First Baptist Church will preach. Evening services at 8 00 pm morning services at 10 00 am. Special nightly prayer services begin 7 30 pm with special music. all are welcome.

Key Pipes of Comanche has been named State Supervisor of the V. E. Program within the U S Department of Agriculture. The V. E. Program inspects hogs and is part of the Disease Eradication Division. Pipes, 1943 Comanche High School graduate and World War I veteran, now oversees 15 inspectors.
Comanche public schools named two new principals at a trustees meeting. Bernice Windle will lead the Junior High and Wyatt Lee Morris becomes J B Layne Elementary principal, succeeding the late Dorcus Brown and ill spouse of Mrs Burdette.
Comanche 1957 Learn to Swim program begins Monday at 2am at Lake Eanes Pool with beginner classes at 9 10 and 11 am. Beginners must register by 9 to be placed in a regular class. The course covers 10 hours over two weeks with weekday sessions. Five and older may enroll. Intermediate swimmer and advanced levels start July 29.
Coach Don Walker, longtime CHS football and track figure, is named to lead CHS track and serve as grid assistant under newly elected coach Bill Scoggins. He plans to move from Stephenville after August to Comanche and resume football workouts August 24. The report notes Walker and Jo are parents of two-week-old Michael and that Walker is a former Stephenville High star and John Tarleton athlete. expected CHS to name Newman as B team football coach.
Joy Lee Williams will reopen at the former Banner Creameries site about three weeks after a fire destroyed his Williams Drive-In Cleaners. Insurance adjusts estimates include $3,000 coverage for storage losses, $6,500 for equipment, and $5,000 customer liability. Williams thanks the fire department and customers for support.
J D Haley a De Leon native was killed in a motor mishap near Stephenville Sunday. Funeral services for John Doyle Hulsey 34 of Fort Worth truck driver killed in a highway accident south of Stephenville were held at De Leon First Baptist Church. Hulsey on way to a family reunion at Hico when his truck overturned on State Highway 6. He lived in Fort Worth about a year and drove for a Dallas firm. He is survived by his wife Miss Georgene Hulsey Sreenlee and three brothers James Gerald and Jerry. Delta reference noted in closing.
The Comanche County Crusade for Christ led by evangelist B O Baker and singer Dick Baker continues through Sunday night at Indian Memorial Stadium in Comanche. Large crowds from many areas attend nightly, with car caravans and reserved sections for seniors and handicapped. Sunday’s rally title is The End of the World, and the Crusade Choir will perform How Great Thou Art. Less Dillard of Comanche shows a new okra variety resembling squash.
