Mrs. D. H. Isham Dies After Illness in Comanche County
Mrs. D. H. Isham 53 a pioneer Comanche County resident died at her Indian Creek home on July 4 after five years of illness. Funeral services were held at Indian Creek with Elder Lynn Dalton and Rev. H. J. Sanders officiating. She was born Nettie Carolin Coker June 6 1885 and married to David H. Isham. Survived by daughter and six sons including R. C. Isham and Davidell Isham, plus siblings and a Methodist Church member.

Highway 36 paving let July 15 Caldwell to Somerville
The Caldwell to Somerville Highway 36 paving project, advancing from the 1939 plan to the 938 program, will be bid July 15. The 17.3 mile stretch from the Yegua river to Caldwell will complete pavement to the Burleson County seat, with work continuing from Caldwell toward Cameron. A letter from State Highway Engineer Julian Montgomery to Sen. Al ert Stone confirms the bid date. Mr and Mrs Ben Lawson of Mas visited her mother Mrs ra Greene Sunday.

Aunt Georgia Carnes Walcott Dies in Como manche
Mrs. Georgia Walcott known as Aunt Georgia Carnes died at her home in Como mancha on July 4 after months of illness. She was 86 and had lived in the town for many years, active in early social life. Funeral services were held at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Gordon Barrett and Rev. E M. Shepard officiating. Survived by several children.

Miss Iva Hart Injured After Porch Fall Friday
Former County Treasurer and head of the Iva Hart Insurance Company Miss Hart suffered a broken ankle and leg when she fell from a porch of Mr and Mrs George Smith Friday night. She was rushed to a Brownwood hospital for treatment and is reported to be getting along as well as can be expected.

The Comanche Chamber of Commerce with Lions Club sponsors a goodwill caravan leaving at 6:00 PM for Gustine and Energy to promote the Old Settlers Reunion. The Comanche Band will join, with a program at Gustine at 7:30 and a second performance in Energy. A similar trip to Priddy is planned Tuesday, caravan departing at 7 o'clock for an 8:00 street program.

A C Wells Dies After Move to Brownwood
A C Wells longtime Sidney and Comanche resident died Monday in Brownwood after moving there recently. Burial followed Tuesday at Pendergrass Cemetery with Elder Herbert Newton officiating. Born June 9 1865 in Tennessee he once served as a grammar school custodian. He is survived by two children A C Wells and Lucille Huddleston. Loraine Well Produces 25 Barrels After Acidizing
The Loraine well in the Duster community began acidizing and produced an estimated 25 barrels. It flowed 22 barrels at 500 pounds pressure, then pressure dropped to 200, after which it was shut in. It is expected to flow about 22 barrels daily. The oil is described as high quality. The rig moves 0.25 miles north for a new drilling contract, while another test setup is prepared on the Smith tract 0.25 miles west.

Lamkin Gymnasium Bonds Approved
Austin July 6 Attorney General William McCraw approved a 4.00 school bond issue for the Lamkin Independent School District in Comanche County to build a gymnasium. Bonds of 150 and 250 dollars mature 1989 to 1958 with 4 percent interest on a 17 cent per 100 tax levy based on 232210 in valuations.

Boy Drowns During Leon River Picnic
Willie Harve Davidson, year old son of Mr and Mrs Harve Davidson, drowned at a Leon River picnic near Hasse. The group was swimming in a deep hole when he disappeared and was found by Pink Williams. Funeral services were held at Sardis with survivors including his parents, three sisters, and several half siblings.

Drilling Resumed On Compton No. 1
Drilling resumed Tuesday on the R. D. Compton No. 1 J. H. Griffin well in Comanche County near Logan Gap. The test, located about two miles from the Brown County line and three miles northeast of Blanket, targets the Ranger lime with a notable showing at around 500 feet and ongoing work near the Fry sand. The well sits in 2,300 acres owned by R. D. Compton and Company of Fort Worth and Jackaboro.
