Jefferson Texas 1872 port colonies and Gould railroad tale

Readable excerpts describe Jefferson Texas in 1872 as a bustling port on Big Cypress Creek, with ships carrying 225 to 700 tons and Jay Gould's railroad dreams. The town boasted the Excelsior House hotel hosting Grant Hayes Gould Wilde, 47 Texas Medalion buildings, and the Riverfront Restaurant run by the Butlers. Heart Month notes urge contributions to the Heart Fund and expanded wellness beyond doctor visits. Sympathy note ends.
