Beckham man dies from burns after family house fire
Homer Beetham Beckham, 33, of Belle Plain Brownwood, died in a Brownwood hospital Friday from burns suffered in a fire that killed his wife and destroyed their four room home at 3 30 a m. The cause remains unknown. Beckham was found in an irrigation ditch about 50 yards from the house and carried to the hospital not fully conscious. Survivors include his parents Tol and Mrs Beckham of Brownwood, a brother Rudolph Beckham in Italy with the 36th Division, and a sister Opal Couch of Zephyr.

Sam D. Williams of Comanche, employed by Clay Building Material, was inducted into the Army on January 1, the fifth member of his immediate family to enter the Armed Forces. His four brothers serve in the Army Air Force, including 1st Sgt. Wilson Williams in Oklahoma City, Tech. Sgt. Thomas T. Williams in the South Pacific, Tech. Sgt. Austin P. Williams at Concho Field, San Angelo, and Cpl. Finis F. Williams in Herington, Kansas. They are sons of Mrs. S. W. Williams of Comanche, daughter of Mrs. Chas. T. Bowman of Hamilton County. Bowman’s widow has eleven grandsons in service, four overseas. Mrs. Williams has two home children, Carroll Eugene and Flora Nell. S. V. Williams, the father, died September 7, 1942.
