Presbyterian Church Announces Strong Start to New Year Activities

The Presbyterian Church reports rising interest since the new year with growing Sunday School attendance. Miss Avella Anton from Brownwood Presbytery joined as special worker, leading teacher training and nightly sessions for Sunday School workers. Miss Starr oversees youth programs, social events, and a social last Saturday, while the choir, directed by Mr. and Mrs. Clark, enhances services each Sunday. Proctor will host a preaching event on a Sunday evening.

Birth announced in White Point community

Announcement of the arrival of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Code Murphey on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. ER. Tunn, their sons, Mrs. S. BE. Chandler, Mr. and Mrs. Fount Woods and two daughters attended a conference Saturday at Indian Cree. Brother Porter preached a fine sermon with good attendance Sunday. Sunday services held at White Point every Sunday morning at 6 o'clock. all invited.

P T A Organized at Downing School

The Downing school patrons and teachers formed a P T A at 1 30 p m on Friday with J W Wallace presiding. Mrs George Hulsey of Consanche spoke and officers were elected: Sam Grissom president Katie Kuhn first VP Bishop second VP Cal Hulsey third VP and J W Wallace secretary treasurer. Charter members were named and duties explained. The group plans monthly meetings to improve Downing School with guidance from Mrs Hulsey and others.

De Leon Baptist Church Seeks Broad Church Attendance

Comanche Baptist Orchestra will feature the evening service this Sunday at seven o'clock inviting music lovers to attend. Pastor J. N. Campbell completes the Sunday School season with a diploma ceremony. De Leon deacons meet Friday at seven. Dr. George W. Truett speaks in Brownwood next Tuesday at an all day meeting with free dinner. Various classes report high attendance, with the Sunday School attendance at 236, below December's 254.

Loftis Promotes Rural Education and Churches in Comanche

Howard Payne College extension director J. W. Loftis spent over a week visiting public schools and lecturing at Baptist churches in Comanche. He spoke on higher education and the problems of modern youth while touring Newburg Energy Swan Hill Fleming Gustine and other communities. Large crowds filled houses for chalk talks and readings as Loftis encouraged rural church life and community centers, with plans to return to complete the county tour.
