Roy Brannan announces to a Waco meeting that Comanche County seeks men 30–50 and women 25–45 for overseas Red Cross work. About 3,000 nationwide positions include club workers, hospital aids, field directors, and clubmobile roles with good salaries and travel. C E Murphy Dies After Gustine Car Crash
C E Murphy 52 of Austin died after a car left the road near Gustine and overturned three times. Authorities suspect a heart attack caused loss of control about five o’clock Monday afternoon. He had been working out of Hamilton for oil operations. Survivors include wife Mrs Murphy and children Peggie Tom Susie C E Jr navy recruit at San Diego Waves at Florida. Funeral services pending arrival of son and daughter. The family home is 3213 Liberty Street Austin.
