John Pace Found Dead Here Sunday
John Pace a 74 year old retired fisherman living near Comanche Western outskirts was found dead in his kitchen Sunday afternoon. He wore only a shirt and overcoat and exposure was ruled as the cause after a Justice of the Peace review. pace had been seen at 10 a.m. by nephew A E Binson and the Stephens family were away. Funeral services were held at Oakwood Cemetery Monday with minister Marion Gaines officiating.

Lamkin Worker Survives Grim Mill Accident

More Marriages Fewer Mortgages Filed In County
Figures from County Clerk Mrs. Mary Fields show 1939 brought 198 marriage licenses in Comanche County up from 179 in 1938, a gain of 19 couples. Mortgage filings fell to 6,060 from 6,289 the prior year, a drop of 229 instruments including deeds and transfers.

Bank and postal receipts serve as barometers of county business. The National Bank posted total deposits of $913,207.86 on the date, up from $756,896.09 a year earlier, a gain of $156,401.86.
