Philip Nolan Story of Treason and Patriotism in 1807
The 1918 account recounts Philip Nolan, a U.S. Army lieutenant allied with Aaron Burr, who cursed the United States after treason trials. Convicted by court martial, he is ordered to never hear of the United States and spends 55 years aboard naval ships, until his dying hours. He ends by declaring his loyalty to the flag, despite years of isolation.
