Pecans Thrive as Denny Plants 80 Acres in Lone Star State
Comanche farmer C F Denny converts sandy valley land near Sulphur Draw into a budding paper shell pecan orchard. From 100 acres planted in 1921 22 the trees progressed from a few nuts to over 500 in 1926 with trunks nearly ten inches and a 1927 harvest of good nuts. Denny’s cost was minimal and the results show a path for other farmers to follow with patience and work.

De Leon Laundry Fire Rebuild Plans Underway
Fire of unknown origin late Saturday night destroyed the De Leon Laundry owned by Joe H. Farmer and run by his son. Insurance partially covered the loss. Farmer planned immediate rebuilding and went to Fort Worth on Wednesday to buy new machinery for the plant.
