Hon C C Hampton pictured as he appeared ten years ago when first taking office in 1933. Born 1891 in Johnson community of Comanche County, Hampton built a long legal career, ran a floral business, and served on school boards in Cross Plains and De Leon before returning as County Attorney on January 1. He and Mrs. Hampton have two children, James and Frances, in military service and college respectively.

Two Jailbreakers Captured by Sheriff Spivey

Two seventeen year old youths escaped from Tom Green County jail at San Angelo Sunday night and were captured Tuesday morning by Sheriff Wid Spivey. They named Smith and Adams stole a 1935 Ford Coupe, abandoned it one mile west of Comanche after it ran out of gas, and were held for return to San Angelo.

Surgical Dressing Material Is Here Work Starts Jan 4

A three month quota of gauze and cotton for the Comanche Surgical Dressing Center of the American Red Cross has been received and work will begin on Monday January 4. The local Red Cross station is on the third floor of the courthouse. The room will be open on Monday January 4 at 10 o clock until 3 o clock and will open at 1 30 each weekday afternoon except Saturday. The quota includes 30 000 two by two dressings and 22 500 combination pads.

Bank Deposits at Gustine Rise to 175000

Bank deposits at the First State Bank in Gustine total about 175000, roughly double last year's level, driven by strong local farming output. Cashier Odis Petsick cites good peanut crops and heavy turkey sales as main factors in the rise in this part of the county's farming belt.

Whiskey seized in raid at Mack Adams residence

Constable Odis Brazier and State Liquor Board agent J C Royal seized 124 half pints of whiskey and 24 pints in a raid at Mack Adams residence in south Comanche late Wednesday afternoon December 24. Adams was arrested, charged with possession of intoxicating liquor for sale, and pled guilty with a $100 fine plus court costs.
