Francis Gilbert Clark 82 known as Uncle Frank died at his home Monday February 21 after a hour long illness from paralysis. Funeral service was at the Church of Christ with Minister Morton of Brownwood. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Survivors include two sons Francis and Ben, a brother D C Clark, and several relatives.

Seventy-Eight Percent County Taxes Paid in 1937
Approximately 78 percent of state and county taxes assessed for 1937 had been paid by February 1 when the penalty took effect. Deputy Collector Homer Palmer said the rate could rise to about 82 percent by the end of the split payment period, aided by spring payments from those who used the fall plan. H. W. White Dies Here After Lingering Illness
Henry Washington White aged 55 a Comanche cafe operator and church worker died at his home after a long illness with a hospitalization in Brownwood. Funeral services were held at the Comanche Baptist Church with four pastors officiating and burial in Oakwood Cemetery. He was born in Coryell County Texas on September 19 1882 and lived in Pauls Valley Oklahoma before moving to Comanche fourteen years ago. Survivors include his widow five children and several brothers and a sister.

At a State High Commission meeting in Austin the cost of building a bridge on Highway 36 over the South Leon River between Lamkin and Gustine was requested. Officials also asked for the cost to complete the Gustine to Macksville stretch about two miles east of the river. Money Raised for Bull Circles Aims to Boost Dairy Herds
By Thursday noon one hundred six dollars of a two hundred dollar goal had been collected for a fund to buy four Jersey bulls for local farmers. If the goal is met, The Farmers Cheese Plant will donate an equal amount. The soliciting committee includes Charles Hoffman Hilton Burks and Gail Dudley. Captain Hart Dies In Oklo
Captain Samuel Hart a longtime government servant and retired pensioner from Comanche and Sidney died February 20 at 8:45 p.m. in the Veterans Administrative Hospital Muskogee. He was buried in Fort Gibson National Cemetery. A friend from Grandview recalls Hart as a generous supporter to friends and a church violinist active in the local Methodist Church.

J A Stevens of Lamkin, a Civil War veteran, observed his ninety third birthday February 13 at home with family and friends. A Georgia native, he joined the Eighteenth Alabama Regiment, fought under Hood across Georgia to Tennessee, was captured for five months, and sustained facial burns from nearby artillery. He married Liza Davis sixty seven years ago and they have ten living children and over thirty grandchildren.
